It’s that time of year again. The 2013 BET nominations have been announced.  Congrats to rapper Drake for leading the pack with the most nominations. Drake has 10 nominations. They announced the special news at a press conference which was attended by Chris Brown, Tamar Braxton, Kendrick Lamar, and a few others.  They are calling this year’s BET Awards celebration the “BET Experience”.  It is a three day extravaganza which begins on June 28th with Beyonce headlining a series of concerts from various performers.  Here is the complete list of nominees:

Mariah is back with her lead single/video from her upcoming 14th album. The name of the song is “#Beautiful”. It features Grammy-winning R&B artist Miguel. Mariah was very smart in having Miguel team up with her on this wonderful new record. We love it here at the office. So far the record is looking to be a smash hit. Her first hit in 3 years. The video premiered on American Idol and we love it. Miguel is really doing his thing. We can’t wait to see what he cooked up with Beyonce in the studio. Check out the video!!

TV One’s hit show “R&B Divas” follows the lives of Faith Evan, Keke Wyatt, Nicci Gilbert, Monifah, and Syleena Johnson.  The show was such a success for TV One that have decided to do a spinoff to it titled “R&B Divas: LA”. The cast members of this spinoff are friend to our website, R&B powerhouse Lil Mo, former City High member Claudette Ortiz, Chante Moore, Kelly Price, Michel’le, and En Vogue’s Dawn Robinson. This should make for an interesting reality show. We love these women together. Friend to the website, Lil Mo,   just moved out to Los Angeles earlier this month.  They have already started filming the season. Stay tuned for more updates on the show, and a premiere date. Congrats ladies, we will be watching.

Superstar Beyonce has had an interesting week.  First, she made history (AGAIN) by being asked to sing the national anthem at President Obama’s second inauguration.  Then, within 24 hours of that taking place, she has made headline news about her lip-syncing the national anthem.  Many singers lip-sync all the time at super huge events to make sure it goes off without a hitch. This is NOT Beyonce’s first time lip-syncing. She also lip-sync the National Anthem at the Super Bowl. FYI-The NFL makes singers turn in a pre-recorded vocal of the national anthem two weeks before the big game.  Yes! That means that Whitney Houston’s beloved rendition was ALSO lip-synced.  So with all this hoopla over Beyonce’s performance, she is now asking y’all in this photo above of her rehearsing, can she live?  It could be a message to all the naysayers out there, or she could be promoting her husband’s song of the same name.  Either way, let Beyonce continue to be great, and regardless of what, most people will be waiting to see her take the throne next Sunday (Feb. 3) at the Super Bowl. R&B powerhouse Lil’ Mo has made an announcement that she is moving to Hollywood. The ‘Wave Ya Flag’ songstress  followed that press release with a snippet into what appears to be a new reality show. In the clip (which you can watch below), you see Lil’ Mo take on Hollywood full force. She interacts with fans, potential new business partners, and also deals with the stress of trying to fit in the Hollywood scene as well as balance family life. In one particular scene she states that she is “a little bit ratchet” and doesn’t know if Hollywood is ready for it. In another scene, she is told that she needs to change her physical appearance. She is asked to change her hair color, and drop weight (watch for her reaction…lol). This is a great look for Lil Mo. If you think that wasn’t enough, she is also looking for 25 women to go Hollywood with her to focus on their dreams as well. We have always felt that she deserves to be on television. She has so much to still offer the world. After an impressive 8 sold out shows at the Barclay Center over earlier this fall, Jay-Z is looking for a repeat come New Years Eve.  It has just been announced on Jay-Z site (lifeandtimes.com)  that Jay-Z and Coldpla will headline a concert at the Barclay Center on Dec. 31st. 

Coldplay also announced it on their own site (coldplay.com)  about the highly anticipated show. ‘We’re pleased to announce that, on Monday, 31 December, Coldplay will round off a memorable year by performing a very special co-headline show with Jay-Z at Barclays Center, Brooklyn.’

They also state- ‘This will be the second time in two years that Coldplay has celebrated new year with long-term friend and collaborator JAY Z, the band having shared the bill with him at a Las Vegas concert in 2010. More recently, JAY Z performed onstage with Coldplay at the spectacular London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony.’

Tickets for the show go on sale November 17th.  We will be in the building!

Sister, Sister alum Tamara Mowry-Housley finally gave birth to boy, Aden John Tanner Housley, on November 12th at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.  The baby arrives 2 weeks after his scheuled due date of Oct. 30th.  According to People Magazine, the baby weighed in at 9 lbs.,5. oz and is 21.5 inches long.  Tamera now joins her twin sister Tia in motherhood who is mother to one year old Cree. You can catch all the excitement on thier hit Style network show, Tia & Tamera. Congratulations to Tamera and her husband.  We can’t wait to see pictures!

Grammy-nominated rapper J. Cole is back with the lead single off of his upcoming sophmore album Born Sinner (release date: 01/13/13). The name of the song is “Miss America”.  The song has very controversisal lyrics.   J. Cole says at the end of the song “they will never play this shit on the radio”.  However, radio needs a song like this, the song is amazing, and talks about real issues.  J. Cole is one of the most talented lyricists out there in the game right now.  J. Cole’s Roc Nation debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200.  The album sold 218,000 copies first week, and certified Gold with 600,000+ copies sold. That album also garnerd him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
